Pharming Party – Not A Party You Want To Attend
The youth have a tendency to do some pretty dumb things. This is especially true when they’re trying
anything to get high. But a pharming party has to be one of the most dangerous yet. Teens, and even
some adults, are grabbing medications to take to parties.
So, what exactly is a pharming party? It is when people take either their own medications, or others
medication that they have stolen, to a party. Once there, they will offer up the drugs they brought to the
host of the party.
These drugs are then put into either a bag or bowl to be mixed. Then, the pharming party begins by
people taking these random medications to see what happens. They have no idea what they are taking,
and will take multiple types of pills at the same time.
By now I’m sure you’re saying “what the hell are they thinking?” I had this same thought too. This isn’t
just simple reckless fun, it’s just plain dumb. Many medications don’t mix well with others, which is why
your doctor might ask you if you are on any other medications. These people are just mixing.
A Friends Pharming Party Story
Without giving too much away, my friend was once in a medical situation with others where there was
no supervision. The building he was in had something very similar to a pharming party. The difference
was simply that this was a day to day basis, not a special party. It was in 2007, and he had never heard of
a pharming party.
He didn’t want to be included in this because he could see how stupid and dangerous it could be. When
he was in his particular medical situation, he was given pain medication. He had enough to be taken
with every meal.
When he would come back from his meals, the self-chosen head guy of the place who was also a patient
asked if he had any medication to take. Without thinking, the man had told him beforehand why he
wanted to take them in the first place. This was all for their version of a pharming party.
He was taking everyone’s medication and throwing it into a bag so they all could take random
medications for the fun of it. My friend told him no immediately, and proceeded to hide his bottle of
prescription painkillers in his personal locker. He would only take out the few he needed for that day.
My friend had to hide the rest in his locker so they wouldn’t be taken. He also had to be sneaky when
going into his locker to get his medications, often just grabbing his toothbrush or something to make it
seem like that was why he was going in there.
The point of this story is to show that this has been going on for a while, and its taking place
everywhere. People will do this for their own amusement to see what will happen. Most of the people in
my friend’s particular situation did it out of boredom and to kill time.
He would tell me how he was glad he didn’t participate in the pharming party. Not just for his own
benefit, but for the benefit of the others knowing they wouldn’t die from taking his particular
Don’t Go To A Pharming Party
Just don’t do it. Parents especially, make sure your teen isn’t going to a pharming party. Possibly just
check them before they go out for the night to make sure they don’t have any of your pills. Or that if
they take medication that they aren’t taking more than they need with them.
People should only be taking medications that have been given to and prescribed to them by their
doctors. This is to make sure they aren’t being mixed with other drugs that could cause death. Many
drugs do not mix well with each other, and can cause death by only taking one pill of each.
